I bought my AW S8 SS with a link bracelet a few weeks ago and today one of the two buttons on the side of the release mechanism fell apart without any interaction.

I‘ve used the watch band for typical daily activities. No sports, no showering or washing the dishes. Therefore I‘m skeptical of the robustness of the filigrane parts of the band.

Fortunately Apple customer service was very helpful and will provide me with a new band. I hope this one will last longer.

I bought mine with my Series 6 and have used it for everything: workouts, hiking, landscaping, sports, bathing, swimming, sleeping, coding, etc. I’ve banged it around a fair bit and it’s been great. It does have some micro scratches (which you can address if desired), but I actually enjoy them.

I haven’t had any issues with the bracelet at all. I have several other bands, but haven’t worn any of them since I bought this one — it’s my “everything” band.

I’ve only experienced one issue while wearing the bracelet and it was while typing on a 14” space black MacBook Pro. The band itself was fine, but the laptop’s palm rest area had micro scratches after months of typing. I’ve typed on a silver 16” MacBook Pro while wearing it for a year now and have had no issues.

I picked up a second hand space black link bracelet about 3 years ago and I have beat the crap out of it. I’m guessing you found a rare defect. This is what the warranty is for!
