Linking Airport Extremes for Better Transmit Rates

I just purchased the 5th Generation AE. Unfortunately my Internet connections are in the basement, which is where I have to connect my AE to my ISP modem. I am not getting good transmit rates to the 2nd and 3rd floors. I am only getting about 108 - 130 transmit rates for 5GHz. Is there a way I can use my older 4th generation AE and extend the one in the basement so I good better transmit rates? I would like to get in the 300's. Any help with details on how to do this would be much appreciated.
