Links not opening mail app

My mail app works fine....but if I click an email address I get an error message saying "the application mail.app will not open". This has to be a simple fix but I can't find it.....
 
Problem fixed....but not sure why. When I went to default mail app in preferences, there were TWO mail.apps available. I selected the one that wasn't selected and now clicking on an email address within an email opens a new email. I have no idea what the OTHER mail.app is or does.
