I had some spare network cards with realtek chipsets so I thought I would try them out in the g4. The first card is a 10/100 card and does 7MB/s during transfer, which isn't too bad for a random 10/100 card I found. The EG1032 how ever is a gigabit card and only pulls in 9MB/s which is still in the 100baseT range.
Now, I am thinking my overclocked G4 is fast enough for this (533mhz with 133mhz fsb) because its running the same speed as a Gigabit G4. The harddrives are 7200rpm, and the switch / other computer are all gigabit. I even tried straight through from my Macbook to the G4. This leads me to believe its a driver or card problem.
What are your thoughts?
