I have a G3 iMac and don't feel like paying $120 or so for an older style Airport card, so I bought a LinkSys WGA11B (Wireless B Gaming Adapter) figuring that should just work fine. It was only $29.
Anyway, I finally (sortof) got it set up, but it sure drops connections a lot and is very slow sometimes. I won't even move it and it'll be working fine one second, and the next not even have a connection at all and my computer's IP address will switch to the self-assign 69.xxx.x.x and Safari will give the "not connected to the internet" thing...
The strange thing is, to test my signal strength in that area I put my PowerBook 1400 with an Orinoco Gold card precisely where the WGA11B is and it gets a steady, constant and reliable 75% reception.
WTF???
