Linux on the iPod - Recent project milestones being new func...

to anyone who noticed the snafu, I apparently fell asleep posting this the first time and totally fubar'd the thread, so I started a new one. Apologies to anyone confused. :D

My comment, before I just mertylized it, was:

Is there any point to doing this other than the "because it's there" factor?
 
I would say that Linux on iPod would be a great hack and vice versa, especailly for all those linux users who want to run iTunes or iPods from their PCs as well as new PC buyers who by a Dell or HP pc runnning Linux and who may want to run their music collection on an iPod. I know of some computer engineers who wish they could run their music colletion on an iPod.
 
I don't see what good it will do to run Linux on an iPod. I suppose it might mean more iPod sales.:d
 
Ah, install WINCE so iPod can contain MS ****e... IMO.

Anyway, Linux on iPod is something I wouldn't want to install at the moment.. by the sounds of it, it can barely support MP3, and Vorbis Orbis let alone ACC and DRMed AAC...

Do you know of anyone having success in this regard? I could definitely use that.... but I'm not sure I would want to ditch its normal use as a player.
 
Cool

I like the idea that you can have BOTH Linux and Apple's software on the same iPod, and choose which by doing a reset at any time. Sounds like that's how it can work.
