Hello all, I've been trying to get Linux installed and working on my 1.25 DP Power Mac G4 MDD for years now... keep running into an issue, and then abandoning it for a year or so each time. Any modern Linux distro would be great.

What I've tried:
  • Lubuntu 2016 remix
  • Void, void-live-ppc-20210825-xfce
  • Adelie, 1.0 rc2
I generally have no issue getting into the installer and kicking things off. The problems usually start just after installation, and I get a blank/black screen. Sorry for lack of details, most of this has been scattered between 2021 and now and I don't remember everything. I do recall using some special commands for the Lubuntu installation, something about nomodeset with some other flags. This was provided for specific graphics cards. Sometimes it just completely freezes when rendering a desktop.

I do suspect that the Radeon 9000 Pro is behind a lot of this. Has anyone else struggled to get Linux running properly on the MDD with this Radeon card? What are some good tricks that I could try? It runs perfectly under OS X.
