I have battery issues on my 2008 aluminium macbook and 2010 macbook pro.

in both cases battery life has been cut in half and I can't find any fixes at all.

I since took both machines back to snow leopard but want to give Lion another try.

does anyone know if its been fixed yet? all I can find are loads of pages on apple discussions but with no fix mentioned.

Install iStat Pro to get readings of your battery health and cycle count. There are many factors that impact your battery life. See the BATTERY LIFE FROM A CHARGE section of the following link for details, including tips on how to maximize your battery life.

This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

Fire up Activity Monitor and sort by the "%CPU" column.

Look at the top few entries. Is anything consistently sucking down more than 5 to 10% of the CPU? For instance right now on my desktop Mac, Steam is sucking down a continuous 20%. On a desktop, who cares.. but on a laptop that would severely degrade the battery. Hence if I'm on battery on the laptop, I don't leave Steam running as it's a CPU pig.

Quite a few applications can misbehave and waste CPU cycles, draining your battery. Some even started misbehaving under Lion, so check just in case. Good luck. :)
