Okay so I partition the drive.
I begin the install process.
Windows starts installing.
100% complete.
Windows needs to restart.
Computer restarts.
A black screen boots up.
I see the following message. "Press any key to boot from CD or Dvd....."
after a few seconds I get this message "disk error" followed by "press any key to restart".

And the screen remains frozen.

I've tried this several times and end result seems to be the same. What could the problem be?

I have the 2011 imac i5 27" 6990 with a 1tb hd +ssd setup

Trying to install windows 7 64 bit.

Home Premium Edition. It is a purchased copy. Worked fine when i was rocking SL.

IIRC you only get this error if you don't format the Boot Camp partition before installing Windows. The XP installer would give you options to leave the file system intact, or to reformat as FAT32/NTFS, but Vista and 7 require NTFS.
