Hello,
Several weeks ago I upgraded my mother's MacBook to Lion using her AppleID with my money.
I had intended to buy Lion with my ID to upgrade my iMac, that same day my iMac's hard drive began to give trouble and soon died.
Since then, like a lot of other people have reported, the battery in my mother's MacBook has very poor and runs down much to quickly.
I have been googling the issue and even emailing Apple, but no solution has been forthcoming.
I was going to reinstall snow leopard on the MacBook and see about the possibility of getting a refund.
However, yesterday I finally got to replacing the hard drive on my iMac. It is up and running again on Snow Leopard.
I was wondering since I had paid for it and it was being removed from the other machine anyway, could I install it on mine instead.
I know it would work and I see nothing morally wrong with doing so, but I have two questions :-
Is it illegal to do that?
Is that Lion download "imprinted" with my mother's AppleID? Would my iMac become my mother's computer and replace my AppleID or is that irelevant?
I have asked this on the Apple discussion community too.
Regards.
