Lion - iCal - Reminder (Greyed out)

Hi. Just did a fresh copy of LION and using iCal. However I notice from the menu FILE>New Reminder is GREYED out. Which does not give me a reminder list on the right side or allow me to create a reminder. Can anyone help? I tried searching for a solution but found nothing.

I should add I am using a gmail account. I have tried to delete the ical related system files in hopes it will reset but no luck. For some reason iCal only allows me to add events no reminders. I checked gmail but don't see anything that might be holding me back from creating reminders.

Figured it out

Create a new calendar.
File -> New Calendar -> On My Mac

Name it "Home"

Reminders turns back on.

I had the same problem and I fixed it the same way ColinCopy mentioned!
