I'm stuck with a half installed laptop that refuses to complete the Lion install.

I bought the Lion from the Apple store and put it on disc several years ago. I have always used the same disc to reinstall on the same Macbook late 2009. Never had this issue though.

Because my Wi-Fi had been hacked I had to change the username and password on it. I then decided to reformat my Laptop. I booted from the disc and erased the drive. Then proceeded to install Lion.

It got half way and asked for the new internet password. I entered it. It then followed by asking for a keychain password. I have never seen this dialogue box before and had no idea what to enter.

So I started again. The second time it just asked for permission to use the keychain. However, although it is connected to the internet and starts to download additional components, it keeps throwing up the same error at the same point.

I have tried two different internet connections. They both give up at the same point.

If I just restart I get a flashing folder with a question mark in the middle.

If I reboot from the disc, it takes the usual ten minutes to get to disc utlility, I go through the whole process and it seizes at the same point each time.

I was thinking of connecting the laptop to my other identical Macbook and installing Lion directly onto the hard drive through the USB lead. Will this work? Backward though it sounds I don't have a USB to USB lead so I'm going to have travel 3 miles into town to find one. So I wondered if there was a quicker way of getting this computer to reinstall the operating system I paid good money for.
