Sorry, I must have hit new thread, was supposed to be added here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1104312/

Lion is not allowing me todo a clean install on my iMac. I am attempting to downgrade to snow leopard via a clean install, but I cannot get the computer to snow leopard throu any means.

1) attempt to click image while running in lion, cannot downgrade.

2) attempt to put 2nd partition and install 10.6 from it - hangs at apple logo on reboot.

3) attempt to install from original disk on cold boot - blank white screen.

4) attempt to reboot with snow Leo disk set as boot disk - hangs at blank logo screen.

Lion is resisting this downgrade, how do you suggest I do a clean install of snow Leo if it is designed to stop me from doing it? I have been searching for hours.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Are you using the Snow Leopard disc that came with your Mac?

I think I read somewhere that you need to downgrade by installing SL from the rescue partition that Lion created. Or you need to delete that first. Not sure though. I think there is a thread about this already in the forums here.

If the version of SL that came with your Mac is greater than the version that's on the retail disc, it will not boot.

If your Mac came with 10.6.3, a retail disc with 10.6.0 will not work.

I have Snow Leopard GM 10A432 retail but it is stuck at the apple logo. I'll stop by Mac Authority later and see if I can grab a latest copy.

Thank you, in regards to earlier statement I do believe I need the latest build of snow leo on retail.

I've been running Lion from USB reformatting the internal 1TB every which way but loose each time so just a clean disk won't do.

For the record the snow leopard 10.6.3 disk did the trick where the snow leopard 10.6 GM disk would hang at the apple logo. Done! (and thank you)
