2011 MacBook Pro 17"
Lion keeps trying to reinstall some firmware level update (EFI? Thunderbolt?) and it just hangs my computer on boot.
I held down the shift key, but that hangs too, ie I just sit on the gray apple screen with the spinning wheel thing.
All I'm trying to do is boot it enough to deactivate my CS5 apps so I can avoid having to call Adobe and beg them to reset my serial numbers.
I'm trying to revert back to Snow Leopard. Lion has not worked out well for me. This will be my second borked system.
Zapping PRAM did not seem to work.
How do I repair the OS X install? The machine did not come with Lion, so I don't think I have the recovery partition, though I do have the DVD I created from the Lion .dmg file.
Anyway to boot this thing enough to delete whatever is making Lion thinks it need to keep reinstalling this update?
Thanks.
