Pay day. Weekend. Summer. People on computers late friday night, downloading Lion. Then they go out and get some drinks, party maybe, return and Lion is ready to go.

That is not a source, that is your opinion based on the fact that you believe Apple decide the release date of their latest OS for Macs on what night of the week people stay up late on their computers & get drinks, which doesn't seem to make a load of sense.

Who has a Lion party?

It really isn't that much of a big deal moving from Snow Leopard to Lion, trust me. The excitement wears off after a few days and it goes back to feeling the same as you do now, using Snow Leopard. Hate to break it to you but this upgrade is minor at most.
