Has anyone else noticed that lion seems sloppy in how it manages memory compared to Snow Leo and Leopard? Even with 8 gigs on my mac mini, my system always seems hungry, pausing and beach balling. My previous core 2 duo machines running snow leo almost never did that.

I found this article on clipboard today talking about memory management. Do any of you think he's on to something with this, or just looking to blame a specific function for the weight a new OS is putting on a system?

This is a real problem, which has over 750 replies in Apple Support Community. It is also a reason why there are so many "free memory" type of apps on Mac App Store, all of which simply issue "purge" or similar algorithm.

Disabling dynamic pager can improve the situation, but as the author points out, it has some downsides and does not fix all scenarios.
