As all MBP 2011 (Intel 3000HD) owners know, the Lion UI is about 5 times slower.
SL : 2.12K refresh/sec
Lion : 467.38 refresh/sec
It seems the culpit are the new overlay scrollbars.
When disable those, preferences/general/always show scrollbars, the Lion UI is a lot faster. (1.81K refresh/sec)
Though this huge performance boost is only noticeble for 2D graphics, it does not speedup all animations (as window rescaling).
Apple seems to be aware of this slower performance because there are a lot of questions asks on the debug listing. Fingers crossed if it gets fixed in 10.7.1
