Lion Recovery Disk Compatibility

So, recently one of my old computers refused to boot up and got stuck at the apple logo. The iMac runs mac OS X 10.5.8. Using Lion Recovery Disk maker on another computer, I created a recovery disk. Is it safe to use the disk to repair the filesystem on my old iMac? Or will it try and repair it to the new operating system, which doesn't exist on the old mac? Thanks in advance!
