Hey, guys. I'm trying to find a workaround to the lack of Samba support in Lion. I've tried all the fixes, and nothing works.
I've tried:
Adding the printer from localhost:631
Putting all combinations of domain names, usernames, passwords, port numbers, and punctuation in the printer URL
Restarted
Killed cupsd

Any other guesses?

Thanks.

What is the problem exactly?

Lion handles SMB just fine: file sharing server, client, printing client (I don't know about printing server capability).

If your problem is that you can't see your SMB server or its shared printer(s) in System Preferences > Print & Scan > [+] (Add Printer) > Windows, it may be due to unsupported characters in the name of the share. Try a simple name like "Epson-SX400".

If this fails, try not relying on auto-discovery by adding the printer manually, following this guide.

The problem is that I can't print to this printer. The error is "Invalid printer name". I can print to SMB printers on other networks, but not this one.

I can't see it in the browser to add a Windows printer, but I shouldn't be able to in this situation, I think. It's a complicated network. The name is simple: "K719ric4501".

I have been adding the printer manually.
