I don't seem to get consistent or expected behavior when searching for things on my Mac.

Typing names of contacts in spotlight, for example, does not bring their vcards up as hits. Finding specific files seems to work okay but things like contacts, metata/keywords seems much less reliable.

Also, searching within the mail client seems totally broken. I try to look for words within the body of the messages that I can plainly see, and mail reports zero hits. Rebuilding the mailboxes didn't seem to have any effect. In fact other than searching for mail from contacts which I already have in my Address Book, or specific dates (worthless when all my messages are already sorted by date) I can't get Lion mail to find anything.

Is this how it's supposed to work? Do you guys get this behavior too? I have tried rebuilding the Spotlight database several times, manually erasing the /.Spotlight* folders, and force it to reindex, etc. and it doesn't seem to affect the functionality. Any other ideas?
