Hi. Did search the forum with no luck, so i ask you a little question.

I have a MBP 15" with a OCZ Vertex 2 128GB. Before installing SL i wanted to secure erase the device, to restore its writing speeds performance to factory.

Now, i know LION will enable trim to all SSDs. But will i have to secure erase it before doing a clean install, or will the trim function automatically empty cells on my ssd without having to worry about?

To secure erase it i'd have to re-open the macbook, and i seriously hate those little screws on the bottom (am i the only one btw?).

Thanks in advance

Lion enables TRIM on Apple SSDs, not all SSDs. Thus you would have to secure erase before installing SL.

why would you have to remove the SSD?

because i didn't find a working method to unfroze it directly from the macbook... i always hook it up to an old pc i have to secure erase it.

my bad by the way, didn't know trim was only for apple SSDs.

Or you could instead try this LiveCD:

Here is how to use it:

Boots perfectly in my MBP 2011. Have yet to secure erase my SSD but will try it before installing Lion.
