Lion with HP deskjet 9650

I recently got a mac mini w/ lion and i connected to my HP printer, the resulting print is horrendous. I tried to put the HP 9650 driver from my old mac on the new but it won't run on lion. The new drivers included in lion are not jiving with the printer. Anyone else have this problem and or how do you solve?
