Lion wont boot from disc

I burned the .dmg file to a disc in order to do a fresh install but when I restart my computer and hold down "c" it just try's to load the disc but never does and it stays on the grey screen. I can open the disc on my desktop and install lion over snow leopard, but when I try to do a fresh install it just wont load. Any suggestions???

Did you by chance burn the dmg to the disc as is? Or did you actually burn as image in diskutil?

I opened disk utility -> Drug the .dmg file to the side bar -> right clicked the .dmg file and clicked burn

I cant figure out how to do this method. when I get to the part that says "and then drag your drive of choice from the Disk Utility sidebar to the Destination field." I dont know what to do. Im not able to drag anything to that destination field.
