I manage to repair a MBP 17" (mid 2010): It works flawlessly but It can't shut down or sleep ....
It tries, shut off the screen but hangs indefinetely.
Of course I have reset SMC and NVRAM.
From what I saw on the schematics, shutdown (S0->S5) and suspended to ram (s0->s3)
are stepped procedure.
My guess is that it waits for a signal that doesn't arrive. The board is a #820-2849.
Any Ideas?
To shutdown the MBP I keep the power button pressed for 10 sec. After that you can start it
up without any issue. But since it hangs before entering the sleep mode (s3) or the power off state (s5)
you can't resume or star up again without brutally shut it off keeping the power button
pressed for 10 sec.
