Here is my issue (this is a Macbook Pro 7,1)
- I spilled coffee (about 1/3 of a cup) pretty much all over the keyboard.
- I immediately turned off the machine by hard pressing the power button.
- Left it off for 48 hours.
- I took the Macbook Pro a part to try to clean all of the components, I used alcohol and cotton swabs to carefully clean the components. I used a number of guides online and used the right tools to take my machine apart.
- I put all of the components back together and tried to turn the machine on and I got nothing.
- I cleaned the keyboard (and backlight) with alcohol (I'm not sure if I should have cleaned the back light)
- I was able to short the power pads on the logic board to turn the machine on. This tells me that the logic board is not completely fried (but I could be wrong about this).
- Once on, the computer did boot (in Safe Mode), the keys did work (I was able to put in my password), the trackpad works, but there is no backlight when I turn on the machine. So this tells me that the power button on the keyboard was broken.
- I connected all components and tried to manually press (taking off the back cover) the power button...Nothing.
- Even though most of the keys work, do I still need to replace the entire keyboard?
- Should I have not wiped the back light clean with an alcohol swab?
- Where can I buy a keyboard and backlight?
- The screen seems to have a rolling flicker at times, does that mean that there's something else wrong with the machine?
