Clicking the column separator in list view (see image) automatically expanded to fit a long file name in 10.6 which Mac OS never had before. Now in 10.7 it's gone after finally making a brief appearance. Anyone know if it's coming back? I find I used it all the time and dragging the separator gets to be a chore if doing a lot of filing of files with long or similar names. Thx.

You used to be able to double click on that to get it to auto size. No longer. Really miss that feature.

At the bottom of the column you see the dots click that to auto expand column

I think he's talking about column view. And they are two vertical small lines at the bottom, not dots.

I'm talking about the list view as that's what I prefer to use. Thx.

Click the 'View' menu -> 'Arrange By' -> 'None'.

You'll now have a 10.6-esque column header.

HTH. :)
