i like to listed to internet radio with the lid of my early 2011 mbp closed but of course when you close it goes to sleep and cuts off the audio. its bizarre that there is no setting to do this when on battery. and probably not when plugged in. i know there is a utility that lets you do it but apparently it actually keeps the screen ON so there's heat issues etc. anyone have a good answer?

I bought smart sleep from Mac App Store....it has a insomnia plug in that you can download after you buy it from the developers website and it does amazing. I can close the display and it actually shuts off, the light in front of the macbook pro comes on and it doesn't sleep.....you can then jus turn the insomnia plug in after your done moving around....that seems to work for me, I haven't tried but the other guy mentioned pressing F1 to turn off display before closing lid....
