A tip to anyone who hasn't tried this, positioning the iPhone behind your head, as in on the back of a couch you are are sitting on, provides an amazing stereo quality that really approximates or surpasses having a speaker in the room. I was blown away when I tried it. I gave it a shot after just kinda thinking about it randomly, after barely even using the iPhone speakers, choosing headphones or Sonos or a bt speaker over in-phone speakers every time.

In a pinch, at a hotel or whatever, in bed maybe, it's a good option to have.

Wouldn't it sound better in front of you, since humans hear better in front than behind? (Ears trap sounds from in front better than behind)

put it in front of you and listen with your eyes closed; best of both worlds.

Put it on the floor.... behind you.... while jumping up and down while juggling salt shakers for best results
