I have been having a problem with powering an external display with my MBP running 10.6.2. Among the myriad suggestions harvested from a Google search, a firmware update of the hardware powering the minidv port was suggested. I was browsing the firmware updates on apple.com and saw that there were lots of them... and then wondered how many other firmware updates I should consider. I got into system profiler and found some of the technical details of each bit of installed hardware. Is the "gMux version" the firmware version? If so, how do I compare that with the downloads on apple.com? They don't seem to list what version the NEW firmware is... I'm sure there is a way to figure out if my firmwares are up-to-date. Suggestions?

Thanks for helping a new-to-Mac user,

JW
