Have any of you played Little Masters yet? It's really similar to Pokemon!
It came out a couple of days ago, and although (unfortunately) it's not a free roaming world kind of game, the premise of the game revolves around Pokemon-style battle, both against NPC's and Online players. I was kind of put off when I found out it was just like Pokemon, in the sense that you can't walk around a world discovering new things, but regardless, if you like Pokemon, you'll surely like this game after playing for a while!
It's also worth noting that the game is actually free!
