I want to transfer my files from a G3 iMac to a new Dual 867mhz Powermac. I want to do it through ethernet rather than CD-Rs (there's 20gb of needed data). I will buy an Ethernet cable, but where do I go from there? Is it file sharing or networking or what?

Thank you

I just want a simple explanaition of the rough techniques involved :(

just get an ethernet cable. your macs will do the Rx/Tx changey bit. if you get a Xover cable you might get a tiny imporvement in performance.

i dobt though that it would be noticed anyways as the MDD pmacs have gigabit ethernet. the imcaas only have 10/100.

good luck
