Hi,
I'm a little confused about the Live Activities feature. Is it supposed to replace regular Push Notifications completely for apps when implemented?
Have the following going on (iPhone 15 - 17.3.1):
I use the Deliveroo app for food delivery and they used to send Push Notifications whenever a rider was on the way, close to my house, etc... However they enabled Live Activities now so I used that for a bit but I don't really enjoy it because I don't get the notifications on my Watch that way, which was handy if I was in the backyard or garage. Now in the iOS Settings page I went to the appsettings & disabled "Live Activities" & left Notifications enabled but that does nothing... The app is not sending me any more Push Notifications at all. Tried removing the app, restart device, reinstall app & deny Live Activities when they show up but nothing. I'm stuck without "Push Notifications" after trying out the Live Activities feature...
Same happens on my sister's iPhone 15 (17.3.1) but with DuoLingo. She used to get Study Reminders through Push Notifications but they also use Live Activities now & she disabled that but now she's no longer getting regular Push Notifications for her study reminder. Tried same as above with reinstall etc but didn't help...
I assumed that if you disabled Live Activities for a specific app it would just revert back to regular Push Notifications but that doesn't seem to be the case since we have the same issue on 2 different devices with 2 different apps.
So it kinda feels like: if you have an iPhone with an iOS version that supports Live Activities and the app implemented it, you can only use that & if you have an iOS that doesn't support Live Activities you get Push Notifications instead?
Kinda odd choice if that would be the case because now we can't mirror those app notifications to our Watch anymore since it feels like they only let us use Live Activities...
Side note: we updated both devices to 17.4 last night but she did not get her study reminder notification again this morning so an iOS update did not "fix" this.
