Live Photos - how to archive to external drive then later look at them live

Hi folks,

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I can't seem to find it.

I would like to copy/archive/download some Live Photos from my iCloud and put them on an external hard drive. I'd like to then delete them from my iCloud. I'd like to do this so that later I can pull them back from said external hard drive to be able to see them as Live Photos again. How do I do this?

It seems like I can download them from iCloud in "original" format and they are then split into two files; a still and a vid. How to I put those two files back together again so they are "Live"?
