Live Photos Import Onto Mac

Hello all,

When I import live photos onto my Mac Photos application, it splits them into short 3 second movies and the actual JPG. Is there a way to keep them one file? Do most people just delete the 3 second movie file?

I'm still on Yosemite on my Mac. Will upgrading to El Capitan correct this situation?

I've got the same problem. In fact, it's a bit inconsistent. Some show as live photos while others are not. They've all been imported via USB cable if that makes a difference. iCloud Photo Library turned off, Photostream turned off.
