Anyone try this yet? They will work. You just touch the photo and it starts playing. Haven't seen this posted yet so my deepest, most humblest apologies if everyone already knows this.

Live Photos received on an iPhone 6 Plus

Just tried a couple on my Mac Mini running El Captain GM, not working. Not sure the GM needs updating or it only works on the new MacBooks with the force touch trackpads.
Live Photos work on my iPad Air 2 on 9.0.1.
Sorry, dammit I have El Capitan. Still it didn't work in iMessages. I must be damned tired.
I wonder if that will change with the final version maybe. Seems an odd omission for them. But, it does seem that they're angling it for Photos use. It looks like you can't even copy the Live photo to another location out of Photos, since it only copies the JPG.
You also can't crop a live photo without losing the live part. HOWEVER, if you use one as your lock screen wallpaper, you can zoom to where you want and it still works fine.
Yeah, apparently right now you can't edit one in any way I read. Maybe that's iOS 9.2 if we get that far before iOS 10 comes along
In other words, 3D Touch was completely unnecessary for Live Photos. Also, no reason why they couldn't roll it out to all iPhones since it's purely a software feature.
It's an artificial constraint that you need the 6S to take one since without it there'd be very little reason to upgrade. Reminds me of how Siri was only doable on the 4S even though some Jailbreakers got it to work on older devices just fine.

As far as taking the Live Photos goes, maybe it's something to do with the new CPU and 2GB RAM. I guess it's possible that the processing could adversely affect performance of earlier models and Apple are all about the experience. Or it could be as you say, just to push the new phones. We'll see what the jailbreak community brings. If they can get it working with no issues then you're probably right.

It simply will not work for me on a 6S+ and a friend on a 6S. They photos are live on our phones, though after using messages or email to share them they will not work. I am using e most recent iOS update. When viewing Live Photos in the gallery they seem to move a bit on their own to indicate they are live, though the ones sent from my friend do not...
Yes, I remember the delay for newer phones was due to AT&T. I'm talking about how the original iPhone was left out altogether for the same reasons that Live Photos are left out of the 6.
