Hey all,

Is there a function or effect that exists in livetype/final cut that allows me to zoom in on a section of a movie? I'm looking for something similar to ken burns effect, but applied to video. Thanks!

You could use key frames. That is how I've done it in the past. Just google it and you will find way more information about it than I could ever post here. I think Apple may also have some videos on their web site that will show you how it is done. Hope this helps.

Yes, you have to do it manually with keyframes.

Alternatively, either go to school and learn FCP or hire someone that knows it.
