ok, I know this may be a bit far fetched but since Mac OS X supports screensaver use as a desktop, could a live/ movie like scene be used as a desktop. I know there may be no sources for something made like this either. But if say an hour long 1 fps sun set "time-lapse like video" was recorded and set to realtime; is there an app out there to make it a quartz like screensaver?

There's an app called wallsaver.

But it deactivates once a proper screensaver kicks in.

No idea about using a video source though...

thanks for the app suggestion. Well I just figured that still photography desktops are bland and that computer use today should be capable of a bit more. I think it would be sick to have a scene that is "live". A scene where a video of a full day was recorded at a frame per second or even less, of say a shoreline and sky, used as a desktop. I know the video would be huge in size, but I think its worth it. I'm surprised more of this doesn't exists.

just take 17,280 photos over 24 hours and have your desktop change every 5 seconds :D

I know it exists for Windows and has for years as I had it for about a week, but I've never seen it for OS X...
