In the early 3.x days they had issues with battery life and such when updating to new versions and loading from a backup. So the recommendation was always to setup as a new phone sacrificing some info ie. sms histories ect, (info that could be backed up manually and SSH'd back in).

I haven't heard any mention of this in quite a while and I'm wondering as I contemplate upgrading to 4.0.1 from 3.1.3 then jb/unlock if its still an issue at all?

I can't go back cause of new bootroom 3GS and only having 4.0 an 4.0.1 SHSH blobs saved via cydia (3.1.3 windows closed on me before I go ahold of this warranty'd replacement)

Anyway back to the point, Ive manually backed up before, but I'm not super fast at it and always try to be super careful traipsing around in the file system. Was wondering if there was still potential issues loading from a backup??

Thanks in advance for any insight or information you have on this. I truly appreciate and if it's already been covered I apologize for not locating it, wasn't for not trying.
