My machine ran horribly on Safari 5, so spent a couple hours last night re-installing things from a backup and was running great on 4.0.5

So got the message tonight about the 10.6.4 update, selected it, unselected Safari 5, and it installed anyways!

Now Safari once again runs like f'n crap and I don't have the stomach to re-install old drive again.

This is waaaay too much like running Windows with no way to go back. What a pain in the butt.

Safari 5 is a joke, especially when Apple bundles it with 10.6.4.

I went through the same issues as you but I ended up using Time Machine a second time to remove 10.6.4 and Safari 5 (again) on my machine. The first time I was burned by installing Safari 5 on it's own. That browser is a disaster. SLOOOOOWWWWWW.

10.6.4 should be released without Safari 5. I'm not upgrading to it until someone can assure me Safari 5 won't end up back on my system.
