Hello

I have a Sony DCR-TRV255E Camcorder and I would like to transfer tapes to my MacBook in order to edit the files with iMovie.

The Camcorder has no firewire connection, only USB. There are no official drivers for this camcorder for mac os on the Sony website and my MacBook does not recognise the camcorder (USB stream is switched on).

Does anyone know a way around?

Thanks a lot in advance!!

According to the manual and product page it has Firewire, Sony calls it iLink though (or DV-OUT), so look for a symbol, that looks like an i on your camera.

If you have a MacBook with Firewire, you most probably need a 4-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable like the following:

The 4-pin end goes into your camera, the 6-pin end into your MacBook.

If you have a Mac with a FW 800 port (example iMac):

You most probably need a 4-pin to 9-pin Firewire cable like the following:

If you have a MacBook without Firewire, you need something like this:
