Howdy all. I've got a steadily growing collection of hi-res and CD rips that I keep mixed in with my Apple Music library in Music. When I go back to the office, I'm hoping to keep listening to these higher-quality versions rather than the normal matched AM versions.

I know from replacing downloaded Apple Music files with ripped files that it's not always a pretty process and tends to involve a lot of duplicate-squashing, but I'm wondering if there's a way to have the ripped files on both computers without sending Music haywire. Any thoughts?

Start Music app with alt/option key pressed and create a new library to those "special" files. Switch to your desired library starting music app with alt/option key pressed

You could setup where you do file sharing with both computers and share the music libraries for both computers. If you want to separate out the ripped music from the Apple Music create 2 libraries. The only wrinkle with sharing the music libraries with more than one computer is that both computers can’t access the same library at the same time. The app will let you know if another user is accessing the library and not allow a second access. Just have to make sure to quit when you are done using the library.
