Local backups on Optibay HDD instead of Factory SSD

Hey all, tried to search this but couldn't find anything. Is there a way to store the local backups for time machine in 10.7 on my optibay HDD? The reason is i'm often away from my backup drive for a while and can be dealing with some big files for Logic etc so don't want to fill up the SSD in the process
