is anybody aware of any local multiplayer iPad games that also incorporates use of iPhones, that would be ideal for a games night? I’m thinking like years ago there was a version of scrabble for iPad that used iPhones as a tile rack.... that sort of thing.

had a quick look, but all the obvious family board games don’t seem to have incorporated any of this functionality. Seems like a big opportunity to increase interactivity.

Well the issue here is mainly one of market share. You complicate the codebase significantly compared to just having it all on just the one iPad, and you simultaneously reduce your potential market by requiring the players to not just have an iPad, but a lineup of iPhones as well. Many possibilities exist with the format, like secret identity games in the vein of Secret Hitler and Werewolf, or parlour games like 2 Rooms and a Boom, but I suspect the market is just too tiny for the effort required to handle the distributed system. - Also play testing and general testing for that matter is more tricky
