So i heard during the beta that lion makes local snapshots of your system. Is this function still in the final lion and if so, how do I disable it?

Sorry, yes, it is a terminal command. Local snapshots have no GUI interface. The bug during the beta builds has been fixed, and unless you have a real need to disable, I would keep the snapshots.
