Hello,

I recently opened terminal and used the ps -A | grep Remote command to look for remote connections. I saw some results that I typically find, like mediaremoted and IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent but I noticed a new one today:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/LocalAuthenticaionUI.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/localAuthenticationRemoteService.xpc/Contents/MacOS/localAuthenticationRemoteService

What in the world is this? To give you some other data on my setup:

  • I'm on an iMac
  • I have ALL remote sharing disabled in my Settings
  • Firewall is set to block all incoming connections
As much as I Google around, I can't find much on this. What's odd is I waited a few minutes, ran the same command in Terminal, and then that localAuthenticationRemoteService one was gone (the others remained like usual).

Any insight would be hugely appreciated.

For what it's worth, I poked around Console and found what looks like a related diagnostics_agent process. I'm not sure on the details but it mentions com.apple.message.__source__: SPI and I can't figure out why that it either.
