Where can I find the original program download files that I have downloaded off the net so I can burn them to disc and just load them up when I do a fresh install instead of searching again etc.
Also my friend does not have internet so I was going to do him a copy etc.
Many Thanks!

Are you talking about .dmg files for things like Google Earth, and Firefox? For Mac OS X 10.5, they are typically saved to a folder named Downloads inside the user folder. 10.4 will save them to the Desktop. To check the default download location for the browser you use, its typically located in the General preferences tab for the application.

Yeah i am talking about when I have downloaded a program say Audacity and wana save it to disc.
Ok so it should be in downloads folder.
Trouble is I think I deleted that last week accidently?
Is there any way of recovering files etc like windows?

What do you mean "you think" you deleted the folder?
Is it absent from the Finder sidebar? If so, you could look into your user account folder (Macintosh HD/Users/you), there is the Downloads folder normally located.
And what about a search with Spotlight?

You could look into the Trash, if you not emptied it.

Or create a new Downloads folder and download all the software again (Audacity is free for example), if you have access to the world wise web.

If you really need to recover deleted files, that are also already absent from the Trash, you could use Data Rescue II, but it costs 99$.

Well I was having a clear up and wondered why some folders like Downloads' were duplicated, so I deleted some in User section and they appear to of gone even in the main section.
So yes deleted, gone for good!
Also I am running 10.3.9 at the moment...
