Should i totally switch off location services or just selected apps?

I dont want the gps active more often than not.
On Android you have the choice to switch off gps and wifi locating services separately.

What do you guys/gals do?

I turn it off for apps that I don't need to have access to gps, keep it on for apps that I do. For insurance, SportsCenter and Twitter have no need to know where I am, but Weather and Groupon do.

In Settings>General>Restrictions>Location Services I have it set to allow. And then I untoggle each app I don't want using LS. Up until a couple of days ago I was doing this but had it set to not allow changes. And I had made some new app toggle changes. I wasn't getting some updates so I switched it allow and now I am just going to check it from time to time to make sure apps I don't need using it - aren't

So far, works pretty good. Battery life has been great. I don't know what I toggled to change the formula, but this seems so far to be proving better to me.
