A few days ago I noticed that my Macbook Pro 14 M2 with 13.4 is not going to sleep properly (battery usage and the device was quite warm after pulling it out of my bag).

I tried to identify what keeps it awake and narrowed it down to "findmydeviced".

My mac is being asked for its location every 1-3 minutes and therefore does not go to sleep properly. My Mac mini is also updating its location every few minutes but is running 24/7 anyway.

First I disabled the "Find my Mac" feature. But it still won't sleep as I still get push Notifications (probably asking for the location). And I would actually prefer to keep that active in case of a Lost/Stolen device.

The only thing currently fixing it was disabling Wi-Fi during sleep but this again prevents the "Find my Mac" feature.

Is anybody else experiencing this behavior? Any advice?

Cheers
Patrick

I've encountered similar issues before and this may be related to a specific setting on your Mac. Try heading to System Preferences > Energy Saver > Power Adapter and make sure "Wake for Wi-Fi network access" is unchecked. This can sometimes cause a Mac to wake up even while it's supposed to be sleeping.

Another thing you could try is resetting your SMC and PRAM/NVRAM. These control various power and hardware functions and resetting them can often solve sleep-related issues.

Quick Update.

Resetting SMC and NVRAM by rebooting has been done multiple times and does not affect it.

I deactivated WiFi in Sleep and the computer sleeps now. Kept Bluetooth active so that "Find My Device" will still find the computer even while sleeping. Not perfect, as I would like to have the ability to lock/delete it, but will have to suffice now.

While awake the location tracking is still running every 1-2 minutes.

Have you tried adjusting the "Wake for Wi-Fi network access" setting in System Preferences > Energy Saver? Unchecking that option might help prevent unwanted waking.
It seems like disabling Wi-Fi during sleep is providing a temporary solution, but it does affect the "Find My Mac" feature.

Yes. It is deactivated (set to never) but has no influence on the sleep issue.
