Locations and Battery Power

I know there a ton of battery issue threads, but I have a specific questions about locations. I know that locations on will drain the battery more than if it was turned off, but does the amount of apps also have an affect? For example, if I only had locations for Siri and find my iphone. Would my battery be better than if I had 9 apps using locations? I would assume it does, but I'm not sure if it's just the phone that needs to connect one time or that each and every app needs to connect.
