So I've had this problem since I've had my 4S, and it pisses me off because in theory it would be fantastic. If I double tap the home button on my lock screen and tap camera, it takes around 10 seconds for the camera shutter to actually open. Super frustrating. When I open the camera normally by unlocking my phone it loads right away. Anyone else have this problem? I have the latest OS.

Hard reset. See if that helps. As the phone gets used more, more apps installed, etc. these times slow down.

Ok, I'll try that. Even off the bat when I bought it with no apps it still did it. But I guess I'll try that.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4S: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I've noticed that too with my 4S, but I wouldn't call it super slow in my case. But I do notice that it is a little bit slower than when I'm inside the phone all the way.

If that doesn't work, restore it in iTunes-make sure you backed up first. This cures many things. I just did it today and it's helped a general slugishness for me.

Also, time to time, double click the home button while the phone is on and close out the apps in the row-hold down until they shake-hit the minus button. I have found this helps too.

Just tested mine. Shutter opens within 2 seconds, or less.

Same here.

The speed will change from time to time. After reboot, or hard reset or restore it will be quicker. Run 10 apps and then try it sometimes it will be slower.
